I remember the 90's when the Union fell and my Old Country was freed from 50 years of backwards totalitarian communist rule. I remember the hope and joy everyone felt, a age of peace and prosperity. A time of new, better, beginnings. I remember talking to my friends at the turn of the century that we live in the most boring time. There was nothing catastrophic going on in the world, at least from where we stood at the time.
Never did I imagine the world turning into what it is today. A politically correct, hateful, fear-mongering mess. It seems every step forward we take a step backward is sure to follow.
Britain exiting the EU...that's something I'd newer would have believed back then. Still find it hard to grasp. Tho I have never been to the UK I'w always liked the country, cynical dark humor, that British stiff upper lip, that grounded attitude...a lot of things in fact. I hope You will survive this mess, because one certainly is not going to thrive in this globalized age where cooperation is paramount to any fiscal success by not wanting to play with others.
Trump a viable candidate for American presidency...what can I say here that hasn't been said already. I guess because most Americans have no idea what living under a crack pot dictator feels like, they have no frame of reference, and by some form of deduction believe that he is a viable option as a world leader...of the most powerful military in the world...mull on that for a minute. Donald Drumpf in charge of the Nuclear Arsenal.
Now imagine one loud mouth idiot meeting one crazy Russian dictator...the possibilities for disaster here are infinite. Think they should bring back the Doomsday Clock if Trump wins the presidency.
It's also sad that the other option is Miss indited fraudster Shillary...nuff said.
Tensions in East Europe isn't great either with the annexation of Crimea, the buildup of troops on the Russian border on both sides, this all feels all too familiar.
It seems that some people are bored with peace and looking for any excuse to plunge it to another mass conflict.
History indeed seems to repeat it self. The story is the same but the technology which it employs is just different.
Well it isn't a dull world any more, is it.
